  2. Blake told me that in addition to adding the infamous Pirate emoticon, the folks at Meebo added a Talk Like A Pirate filter which transforms all your incoming and outgoing IMs into pirate speak!

    ARRR!!!

Blake t’ld me that in addition t’ adding th’ infamous Buccaneer emoticon, to be sure, by Blackbeard’s sword, I’ll warrant ye, th’ folks at Meebo added a Talk Like A Buccaneer filter which transforms all yer incoming and outgoing IMs into buccaneer speak! We’ll keel-haul ye! Shiver me timbers!

ARRR, Arrrr! We’ll keel-haul ye, Arrrr!!!

    Just type “pirateon” in Meebo.

“My one-year-old son’s name is “Stormalong”. He’s got a future of pirate talking in front of him. Yesterday I tried to get him to go “yarrrrr”, but I didn’t have much luck.”

“It’s is aaarrd for me to ignore the aaaarduous efforts you’ve gone through with the aaaaartwork below. I thank you from the bottim o me aaaaaaart.P

  5. Here was a random IM conversation I had yesterday with a friend I haven’t talked to in years (edited):

C: you’re hillarious. thanks for the ecard.

Me: Arr! Me buxom beauty! How is the runt, X, and that lubber of a husband of yours, J?

C: all are great. i dunno how to talk like a pirate

Me: On meebo, all you have to do is type “pirateon” in any IM window and then just IM people regular like.

Me: All incoming and outgoing IMs are translated into pirate.

Me: As fer me, I pref’r me bucaneer au-natur’l!

Me: But meebo’s pirate is good fer the lubbers!

    C: hehe. rock on.

Me: Hmm it be lookin’ like you need a gangsta to pirate dictionary, me lass!

    Me: http://www.thepoorman.net/archives/001218.html

C: i need to start thinking about dinner

Me: Okay, tell J I said Hi.

    C: oh will do.

Me: If he doesn’t say hi back, I be makin’ him walk the plank, by Blackbeard’s sword!

C: and i’ll tell X too. but he might not understand.

    C: too much!

    C: byee

Me: Teach X to say “ARRRR!”

Me: I think he can do that at least. 😀
