My dehydrated congee seems pure and unsullied next to the dark depths of kachang pul in Singapore when I was a kid - the Malay crushed peanut soup with an egg dropped in the middle was thick enough to stand a baguette in. 

A construction worker wrapped in swathes of Bedouin linen like an urban ninja in the fierce tropical heat could fight off hordes of barbarians on a single bowl. Rejoice in your salty goodness, mate! :)</description>
